Love Hina volume 2 is the second of fourteen manga volumes that make up the Love Hina manga series. Containing nine chapters, this volume covers Keitaro’s first Christmas, Japanese New Year and Valentine’s Day with the Hinata residents.
Originally serialized in Weekly Shōnen Magazine, these chapters were collected and published in 14 tankōbon volumes by Kodansha. The series was later released again in a partially colored format known as the "Iro Hina version" ("Color Hina version") at an increased price.
The series was licensed for an English language release in North America and the United Kingdom by Tokyopop, which released the 14 volumes between May 7, 2002 and September 16, 2003. The series was also licensed for an English language release in Singapore by Chuang Yi and for regional language releases in France and Québec by Pika Édition, in Spain by Glénat, in Singapore by Chuang Yi, in Brazil by Editora JBC, in Mexico by Grupo Editorial Vid, in Poland by Waneko, in Greece by Compupress, in Germany in German, and in Sweden and Norway by Egmont Manga & Anime.
In Asian culture, 'starting a fire' also means to boost someone's morals, which is what Motoko and Kaolla are referring to with the flint stones on page 38.
Kaolla holds a reindeer plushie that looks like Pedro from Itsudatte My Santa on page 25. Pedro also reappears on page 53 as an image on Keitaro’s Christmas card to Naru.
Keitaro is using a bookmark with the Sega Dreamcast logo on page 66. The Dreamcast logo also reappears in a shop window on page 102.
On pages 115 and 116, the console Kaolla is playing seems to be a Sega Dreamcast console.
On page 112 Keitaro says that he may be a New Type: a race of humans from the Mobile Suit Gundam anime and manga series.
Included in the Tokyopop manga release were six pages of bonus production art and a bonus information page on the Hinata girls.
